Veteran's Day Freebie

Next Friday, November 11th, our nation honors all of the men and women who have bravely served our country over the years; those who have risked their lives to make the world a safer and better place for us all.  Although I don't have anything special planned for my students to help honor our veterans this year, we will be remembering them and discussing the important role our military plays as we continue our study on "The jobs people do".   After our discussion, students will be given the following word bank and story paper and will be asked to use it to produce either an informational, reflective, or fictional  piece that centers around our military- past or present. Click on the link below to grab your free copy. It is part of my November writing paper and word bank pack available in my TPT store for just $1.00
Click here to download your FREE copy.

Also... I would love to hear what if anything you have planned to remember and honor our veterans with your students.

Happy Friday!

  5. Most of the borders I use come from DJ Inkers Borders CD - I own the 2001 version. She is now selling a make-over version on her website at: http://www.djinkers.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1 It looks like many of the same boarders are included on this revised version. It isn't cheap... but I have used and used it- making the CD more than worth the money I spent! I use her borders to frame parent letters, yearly Christmas letters to family and friends, invitations, etc. A "Must Have" for anyone who enjoys creating adorable printables!

  9. Thanks for the free writing paper, it is adorable! We have a group of veterans who come into the school and talk to the kids for a few minutes. They wear their uniforms and the kids are always in awe! In first grade, we make a hallway display to honor them. We make a big wreath out of stars and the kids do coloring pages and thank you writings. Your pages will look really cute for that! Thanks!

  10. That's so great! For Veteran's Day, all of our first graders write letters to deployed Marines about our respect for them and thanks for all they do. My brother is a deployed Marine, so I send all 150 of the letters to him and he passes them out to all units.

  12. Very cute, just wish it included all the branches of the military. The Coast Guard is too often over looked.
